Why one lesson rarely sticks

Most golfers book a single lesson, feel great for a week, and drift right back to the old swing. That isn't a willpower problem. It's a plan problem.

One hour can show you what to fix. Changing a habit takes repetition, feedback and someone checking your work. The format you choose decides whether you get those three things. So let's start there.

Three ways to take golf lessons in Orlando

Private lessons

One hour, one golfer, one coach. This is where I'd point you if you've got a specific problem, like a slice that won't quit, thin iron shots or a short game that's leaking strokes. You leave with the fix and a drill to own it.

A coaching program

A series of sessions over weeks or months, built around a goal you set. Break 90. Drop five shots off your handicap. Get ready for the club championship. This is where real, lasting change happens, because we measure progress every step of the way.

Playing lessons

I walk the course with you and watch how you actually play. Club selection, targets, recovery shots, how you handle a bad hole. Plenty of golfers hit it beautifully on the range and give strokes away on the course. This is how we find them.

Most of my clients get the most out of a mix. A few private sessions to build the change, then a playing lesson to see it hold up when there's a real target and a real score.

What the technology tells me (and you)

I don't guess. I measure.

FlightScope launch monitor
It tells me exactly what your club and ball did at impact. Club path, face angle, launch, spin. If your ball curves right, I can see whether the face was open or the path was cutting across it. Two very different fixes.
Smart2Move force plates
Think of them as a bathroom scale under each foot that records every pound of push during your swing. Power starts from the ground. The plates show me whether you're loading into your trail leg and driving into your lead side, or just spinning in place.
OnForm video
Slow motion, side by side with your earlier swings, so you can see the change for yourself.

The numbers aren't the goal. They're how I find the real cause of your miss fast, and how you see proof that the change is working.

What to bring to your first session

  • Your own clubs, especially the ones giving you trouble
  • Your glove and golf shoes
  • Recent scores, or even rough notes on how your rounds go
  • One clear goal for the next six months

How often to come back

If you're working on a change, every two to three weeks is the sweet spot. Long enough to practice the new move. Short enough to catch a slip before it becomes a habit. Once the change settles in, we'll spread sessions out to monthly, then seasonal check-ins.

Try this before you call me

Grab a pen and jot down three answers. They'll tell me more in five minutes than an hour of watching you hit balls.

Three things to have ready for your call with John
HoleQuestionYour answer
1Your goal. What would make this season a win? A score, a handicap, or just having more fun?
2Your typical miss. Slice, hook, thin, fat, chunked chips, three-putts. Be honest. I've seen them all.
3How often you play and practice. A good plan fits the time you actually have.

How getting started works

  1. Request a call. Fill out the short form below.
  2. I call you personally. We'll talk about your game, your goals and your schedule. Reach out by 5 p.m. Eastern and you'll hear from me the same day.
  3. We choose your program. Private lessons, a coaching program, playing lessons, or a mix. I'll match you with me or one of my PGA coaches.

Every new client starts with that conversation, not a booking button. It's how I make sure we're the right fit before you invest a dollar.
